So … Lost City Writers are putting on a new play about refugees at Oxford House Theatre, Bethnal Green, London soon. It’s called All In The Same Boat.
Here’s the plan: a gently persuasive look at the role of refugees in Britain down the ages, aimed at promoting understanding and compassion and diminishing anger and selfishness. Does that sound a bit over-ambitious? Oh well, there it is.
It looks at six refugees from different eras – 1620 to 2026 – all adrift in the same small boat off the coast of Britain. It contains six cracking short tales by six different writers, nice interaction between the refugees on the boat, and a lovely ending.
It’s got six lovely professional actors and a bright young director called Natalie Denton. Rehearsals are going well, and we’re twitchily excited about the whole thing.
It’s on Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12 at 7.30pm at Oxford House Theatre, London E2 6HG.
